Las Fotos Project presented “We Rise: Many Tribes, One Nation” on Sat., November 25th, a one-night only solo exhibition by Regina Zamarripa, age 16, centering the stories of indigenous peoples in Los Angeles, from many generations and tribes. The exhibition is in support of the indigenous community’s resiliency and “unapologetic presence” (Zamarripa) in the current political, environmental, and socio-cultural climate. On the holiday weekend, Regina sought to highlight Native peoples, their histories, and their long-standing influence on community empowerment.
“I feel it is crucial to tell the stories of others and document their fraction in time as they make history.”
