La Cage aux Folles was an interactive installation by Warren Techentin Architecture [WTARCH], built within the courtyard of Materials & Applications in Los Angeles. The structure consisted of 346 individual pipe pieces and 6,357 total feet of structure. Embracing both the “cage” and the “folly,” La Cage aux Folles joined form, computational procedures, and fabrication processes to create a dynamic, climbable structure.
Vis-a-Vis, a summer program series co-curated by Jess Castillo and Kevin Crooks, featured live music, projection art installations, film screenings, listening workshops, and dance performances centered on, in, and around La Cage.
